Once Camelbak bladder eventually started to leak after several years I decided to replace it with one of the more-commonly available and cheaper Platypus bladders.
The self standing design of the Platypus makes it much easier to air, and will stand up even when full of liquid. The filling hole is a lot smaller than the Camelbak, unless you get the 'big-zip' version which opens completely. You'll only get liquid into the Platypus, not ice cubes, and carbo powder will have to go through a funnel. The bite valve is nearly, but not quite as good as the Camelbak one for drinking through.
Unfortunately the Platypus valve will open when pressure is placed on it. This has lead to the entire bladder emptying itself in the car or café on more than one occasion. The stiff fabric of the Platy also rustles in use, unlike the Camel. The worst thing about the Platy is that it started leaking after only 3 months. It de-laminated around the fold in the pleated base. I've heard about 3 other bladders doing exactly the same. The replacement bladder (supplied rather begrudgingly by the shop despite the lifetime warranty) also started to de-laminate almost immediately, but as it isn't leaking yet I can't really send it back.
Sometimes the original is the best! The Camelbak may cost more but it's money well spent.
